Create Rules Based on Shipping Address
Validate checkout by setting rules on customer shipping details such as name, address, phone, city, state, country, or postal code.
Use these rules to block invalid entries, restrict specific regions, or ensure accurate delivery information.
1. Full Name (First Name + Last Name)
Create a rule to validate the customer’s full name during checkout.
Create Full Name Validation Rule:
- Select Full Name: From the Select Rule Type dropdown, choose Full Name(First name + Last name).
- Choose the Condition Operator: Select from Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty & More.
- Enter Value: Input the text you want to disallow or restrict (e.g., Test User).
- Validation Error Message: Add a custom message shown when the rule condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Block fake/test names (e.g., “Test User”).
- Ensure full name is provided (not empty).
- Prevent checkout if certain words appear in names.
2. First Name
Create a rule to validate the first name field of the shipping address.
Create First Name Validation Rule:
- Select First Name from the rule dropdown.
- Choose the Condition Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Enter Value: Input restricted or required text.
- Validation Error Message: Add a short message when the rule fires.
Use Cases:
- Block test values like ABC.
- Ensure first name is not empty.
- Restrict fake patterns in the first name field.
3. Last Name
Create a rule to validate the last name in the shipping address.
Create Last Name Validation Rule:
- Select Last Name from the dropdown.
- Choose the Condition Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Enter Value: Input required or restricted text.
- Validation Error Message: Add a short message when the rule fires.
Use Cases:
- Prevent fake last names (e.g., Test).
- Ensure last name field is not empty.
- Enforce real surname entries.
4. P.O Box Address
Create a rule to validate if the shipping address contains a P.O. Box.
Create P.O. Box Validation Rule:
- Select P.O. Box Address from the dropdown.
- Validation Error Message: Add a custom message when checkout uses a P.O. Box.
Use Cases:
- Block orders to P.O. Boxes.
- Allow only street addresses.
5. Not P.O Box Address
Create a rule to trigger when a customer’s address is not a P.O. Box.
Create Not P.O. Box Rule:
- Select Not P.O. Box Address.
- Validation Error Message: Add a message when a address is not P.O. Box.
Use Cases:
- Apply special handling for physical addresses.
- Restrict offers or shipping options for non-P.O. Box addresses.
6. Address (Line 1 + Line 2)
Create a rule to validate the full shipping address lines combined.
Create Address Validation Rule:
- Select Address (Line 1 + Line 2).
- Choose Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Enter Value: Input restricted words (e.g., Fake Street).
- Validation Error Message: Add a message shown when condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Block invalid addresses (e.g., “123 Test Street”).
- Ensure address is not empty.
- Restrict specific regions/keywords.
7. Address Line 1
Same as above, but specifically validates Address Line 1.
Create Address Line 1 Validation Rule:
- Select Address Line 1.
- Choose Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Enter Value: Input restricted words (e.g., Test).
- Validation Error Message: Add a message shown when condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Prevent empty Line 1 fields.
- Block fake entries.
8. Address Line 2 (Apartment, Suite, etc.)
Validates the second address line (e.g., apartment, suite, floor).
Create Address Line 2 Validation Rule:
- Select Address Line 2(Apartment, suit, etc).
- Choose Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Enter Value: Input restricted words (e.g., Fake Street).
- Validation Error Message: Add a message shown when condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Ensure entry is provided when required.
- Block certain entries (e.g., “Fake”).
9. Company
Create a rule to validate the company field in shipping address.
Create Company Name Validation Rule:
- Select Company.
- Choose Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Enter Value: Input restricted words (e.g., Fake Street).
- Validation Error Message: Add a message shown when condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Block test/fake company names.
- Enforce company entry for B2B orders.
10. Phone Number
Validate the phone number field during checkout.
Create Phone Number Validation Rule:
- Select Phone Number.
- Choose Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Enter Value: Input restricted phone numbers(e.g., 1234567890).
- Validation Error Message: Add a message shown when condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Ensure phone is not empty.
- Block fake/test numbers (e.g.,
1234567890). - Enforce specific prefixes/country codes.
11. City / Area
Validate the city/area field in the shipping address.
Create City/Area Validation Rule:
- Select City/Area
- Choose Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Enter Value: Input restricted city or area.
- Validation Error Message: Add a message shown when condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Restrict checkout from blocked cities.
- Ensure valid city entry.
12. Province Code / State Code
Validate the province/state field.
Create Province Code/State Code Validation Rule:
- Select Province Code / State Code
- Choose Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Enter Value: Input restricted Province code.
- Validation Error Message: Add a message shown when condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Restrict orders from unavailable states.
- Allow only specific state codes.
13. Country
Validate the country field of the shipping address.
Create Country Validation Rule:
- Select Country
- Choose Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Select Country: Select restricted Country.
- Validation Error Message: Add a message shown when condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Block checkout from unsupported countries.
- Allow only specific countries.
14. Zip Code / Postal Code
Validate the postal code field.
Create Zipcode/Postal Code Validation Rule:
- Select Zip Code / Postal Code
- Choose Operator: Contains, Does Not Contain, Empty, Not Empty, Etc.
- Input Details: Enter the restricted Zip code / Postal code.
- Validation Error Message: Add a message shown when condition is met.
Use Cases:
- Block restricted postal codes.
- Allow only specific serviceable areas.
- Prevent test or fake codes (e.g.,
000000)
