Applied AI Engineer
Job Description
We are hiring an Early Career Applied AI Engineer to build production-ready AI systems that solve real business and user problems. This role is ideal for someone who can write strong software, work with data, and apply LLMs or ML models in practical systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and build AI applications using LLM APIs, retrieval systems, agents, and workflow automation
- Create backend services for document processing, search, recommendations, summarization, and decision support
- Build RAG pipelines using embeddings, vector databases, structured data, and evaluation datasets
- Develop tools to test, monitor, and improve AI model quality, safety, latency, and cost
- Work with data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure to support AI-powered features
- Partner with engineers, product managers, and domain experts to translate requirements into working systems
Qualifications
- 0–3 years of software engineering, data engineering, ML, or AI application experience
- Strong Python and SQL skills
- Experience with FastAPI, Flask, Node.js, REST APIs, or similar backend frameworks
- Familiarity with OpenAI API, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, or similar tools
- Understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector search, prompt design, and model evaluation
- Experience with Postgres, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redis, or vector databases is a plus
- Ability to build reliable software, not just demos
